Richard Evans Kennedy was the son of Major John and Catherine Evans Kennedy of Chesterville. [It is quite possible that Richard Evans was the grandfather of Catherine Evans (whose father is recorded as Matthew Evans.)] Richard married into Chesterville nobility by marrying Sarah DeGraffenried a descendant of the Swiss co-founder of New Bern, NC, Christopher, Baron deGraffenreid. No further information, beyond the existence of at least one child Catherine Ann Kennedy (Mrs. Edward T.) Atkinson born of the marriage, is available upon noting his early death and his wife's remarriage after financial precautions were undertaken as reflected in the public records.
