Mildred Vinita Chapman was born on September 25, 1917 to Leslie Clay and Alberta "Bertie" Newton Chapman in Walnut Springs, Texas. Mildred grew up in Walnut Springs area and graduated from Morgan High School.

At the age of 19, she married Earl C. Morrison on July 14, 1937. The young couple moved to and established their home in the country between Morgan and Walnut Springs, where they farmed and ranched. On February 11, 1970, Earl passed away and shortly there after Mildred moved into town in Walnut Springs.

Mildred was very civic minded and had many interests and hobbies. She loved to travel and enjoyed Mission work (went to St. Kitts on a mission trip when she was 80 years old) and church building trips. For over 70 years Mildred was a faithful member of the Walnut Springs Baptist Church where she served in many capacities including teaching a "little girls" Sunday School class until she could no longer see very well.

Mildred was also an active member of the Eastern Star for over 70 years. Among other interests, Mildred loved to quilt, and produced beautiful quilts for her family and also as donated items to raise funds for various community fund raising activities.
