She graduated from Abilene Cooper High School in 1978. Dana enjoyed taking care of others when sick or in need. She was an avid scrap booker, organizer, holiday decorator and loved to complete crafts and projects.
Her granddaughter, Emma, was her pride and joy, and she loved spending every precious second she could with her.
Dana was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Smith.
Dana is survived by her son, Daniel Horton and wife, Megan and granddaughter, Emma of Shallowater, Texas; her father, Johnny Smith and wife, Mary of Ruidoso, NM; brother, Mark Smith and wife, Lisa of Buffalo Gap, Texas, sister, Denise West and husband, Phillip of Abilene, Texas, brother, James Smith of Cisco, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation with the family will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home, Friday, Feb. 10, 2017. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, in Resthaven Cemetery.
