Roland W. Jones, 66, of Humble, Texas, passed from this world on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017.

Born in Nuremberg, Germany, and raised in Radcliff, he was a North Hardin High School graduate Class of 1969, and he received his undergraduate degree from Morehead State University then received his commission from the U.S. Army as an Armor officer in 1973. Roland earned his law degree from St. Mary's Law School in San Antonio, Texas.

Roland always will be remembered by his family and friends as deeply caring, brilliant, stubborn and hardworking. He was easy to talk to, a good listener, taking people at their best without judgment. He loved dogs; especially strays which he would take in many over the years and make them part of the family. He loved to be outside. His greatest joy came from playing with his grandchildren, he was a very proud Pa-paw. He is loved fiercely and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Irma Jones.

He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Joann of Humble; three daughters, Lara (Devin) Russey of Van Alstyne, Texas, Jana Jones of Frisco, Texas and Ashley (John) Talton of Humble; a son, Ben Blaylock of Humble; two sisters Patricia (Ira) Goad of Oak Ridge, Tennessee and Linda (Brooks) Collins of Elizabethtown; a brother, David (Lou) Jones of Castleberry, Florida; three grandchildren, Gage, Emma and Elizabeth; and loving nieces and nephews.

Cremation was chosen with a celebration of life and family service taking place this summer at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff.

Donations may be made to the Hardin County Animal Shelter.
