Richard J. McFarland 63 of Richmond passed away February 28, 2017 at his home. He was born January 18, 1954 in Richmond and was an Army veteran serving in Germany and Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was honorably discharges and served in inactive reserve for four years.
He was a member of the Whitewater Valley Detachment of the Marine Corps League, AMVETS Post 38 in Greens Fork, Hagerstown American Legion Post 0333, and the Druids Lodge.
Survivors include his children Angie Bykes of Richmond, Kyle McFarland of Utah, Sarrah McFarland of Colorado, Amy Calico of Whitewater, his mother Dee Simms of Tyler, Texas, his brothers and sisters Donald D. (Connie) of Richmond, William (Michelle) McFarland of Greens Fork, Rod McFarland of Richmond, Jennifer (Martin) Garcia of Taylor, Texas, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father Donald L. McFarland.
Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday March 8, 2017 at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home. A benefit dinner will be held at 6:00 P.M. March 10, 2017 at the Marine Corps League 200 South 9th Street Richmond and a memorial service 2:00 P.M. March 11, 2017 at the Marine Corps League.
