She was born on January 7, 1923 in Minden, West Virginia to the late Marion and Mary Sue (Clay) Wright. Myrtie married Dwight “Bill” Black in 1942.
They shared 60 wonderful years, raising their five daughters, farming and operating Mill Creek Golf Club in Ostrander. In 1973 she and Bill turned their farm into the nine hole course of Mill Creek, adding an additional nine holes a few years later. Proudly, the course remains owned and operated by the second generation of the Black family.
Myrtie enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening and playing euchre. She was also an avid fan and supporter of all her family and grandchildren including; Professional Golfer Ben Curtis.
She is survived by her five daughters: Donna (Roy) Clark of Bellefontaine, Linda (Donnie Martino) Black of Orient, Jeanne (Ronald) Bash, Nancy Black-Plant (James Plant), Janice (Robert) Curtis all of Ostrander, 10 grandchildren, Mike (Cindy) Clark, Traci (Roy) Hobson, Torri (Matt Hobbs) Hamilton, Angie (Ben Zlotucha) Hamilton, Mike Birkenheier, Rick (Heidi) Bash, Sheri (Todd) Courter, Andrea (Tim) Hecker, Ben (Candace) Curtis and Nick (Jessica) Curtis; 13 great-grandchildren, Noah, Sam, Logan, Molly, Charlie, Emlyn, Christopher, Daniel, Connor, Liam, Addison, Gracelyn and Madilyn; sister Joyce (Bill) Hague of Gahanna, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends in the golfing community.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband Bill; brothers Harlan, Orville, and Ronal Wright; sisters Mattie Hanners and Tinnia Atkins.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 10, 2017 from 4 – 6 pm at the Snyder Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive (formerly 1510 W. William Street), Delaware, where celebration of life services will follow at 6:00 pm. Private burial will be in Newhouse Cemetery.
