Military service: Marine Corps. Clyde married Elsie Joan Green born in Gillham, Arkansas on March 3, 1949 in Weatherford, Parker, Texas. Clyde loved golf and baseball, especially the New York Yankees when he was growing up and the Atlanta Braves later in his life. Clyde worked many jobs in his life, but what he liked the most was when he started his own businesses when he and his family moved to Georgia. . The first one in the 1970s was in refinishing furniture; he also bought and sold antiques. His last job before he and wife Joan moved to Florida in the late 1980s, was growing and selling flowers, specifically irises and day lilies. Moving to south Florida had been a dream of his for many years; he wanted to be able to play softball all year round. When he moved to Bonita Springs, Florida, he was able to do that.

Clyde died of a heart attack on December 22, 1991; he was survived by Joan, his wife of 42 years; 3 sons, Kit, Gordon, and Sheldon; 3 daughters, Claudia, Debbie, and Tina; and 10 grandchildren.
