Herman Lee White was born on the family farm five miles north of Platte City on May 23, 1929. It was there on the very same farm that he left this earth on March 2, 2017. Herman had his family by his side with the sun shining through the windows and the flag blowing in the breeze. Herman was born to James Dee and Blanche Miller (Reynolds) White. He graduated from Camden Point High School in 1947. He was a United States Marine, a member of the Machine Gun Platoon First Marine Division, a Veteran of the Korean War, and a recipient of the Purple Heart Award. On October 26, 1956 Herman married Emolyn Jeanee Dallam. They made their home on the family farm. He was a member of: Grand Lodge AF & AM of MO, Camden Point No. 169, Platte County R-3 School Board, Central Platte Fire Protection Board of Directors, PWSD #9 Board, Farmers Mutual Insurance Company Board, and First Baptist Church of Platte City. Those who met Herman knew of his love and passion for farming. He and his son J.D. raised livestock and row crops. He took pride in his tobacco and sweet corn. Herman is survived by his wife Jeanee, of their home, and daughter Teresa (Doug) Gutshall, of Platte City, and son J.D. White, of Platte City, one grandson, Brandon (Meredith) Gutshall, one granddaughter, Tara (Jazz) Rucker, three great-grandsons, and two great-granddaughters. Herman is also survived by two sisters Naomi Johnson of Edgerton, MO, and Deanna Boydston of Kansas City, MO, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother James, and two sisters, Martha Wilson and Maxine Davis. A visitation will be held 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Monday, March 6, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Platte City, MO. The memorial service will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, March 7, at the church. Interment, with military honors, will follow at the Platte City Cemetery.
