BIRTH: There is a birth record of a Richard in 1729 in Prince Georges Co, MD. His parents were John Beckett and Ann Drane but a relationship has not been established with the Maryland family and the Maryland family has such names as Benjamin and Humphrey which do not appear in our line. The name John and Ann do appear in our line but these are common names. However the DAR has published its addendum that states this is the same Richard Beckett of VA so for now I have listed it too as the same man.
MARRIAGE: not found in marriage records, will and marriage records have wife's name.
DEATH: based on probate of will.
WILL: Richard Beckett names wife Susan to have plantation and related personal property, then to son William when she dies (DB H-450); son Thomas to have land adj. Paul Epperly (60 acres- DB H-543); son Josiah to have land adj. Silas Terry (100 acres- DB G-480); son John to have land adj. Matthew Scotts; son James to have land adj. Thomas Goodson (64 acres- DB E-60); sons Thomas and William to pay son Richard 10 pounds in property when he comes of age. after wife's decease moveable estate to 6 daus: Ann, Rebecca, Mary, Ruth, Susannah, and Martha. SOLDIER: American Revolution, served as private in American Revolution 1782-1783 in Capt. Esau's Co. per supplemental application for Christos Christou, Jr. #130571 in SAR. DAR Records for Frances Wolfe #705736 shows her descent from Richard through son John and grandson Samuel. Also Supplemental in DAR for Ruth Bock #710724 A750 shows her descent from Richard Beckett through son Josiah and granddau. Nancy. SAR Application of Darrell Bias #133722 shows descent from Richard through son James and grandson William.
