George E. Penn, 67, of Mineral Wells, WV died Wednesday March 1, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Alexandria, VA a son of the late Lucy Craig and George Penn.

He was a truck driver for Adams Burch and worked for UPS and Dover Products in Parkersburg, WV. He was a United States Marine and a disabled Army veteran. He was baptized into United House of Prayer and served there twenty years until he moved to Parkersburg where he was a member of Bethel A.M.E. He was an avid bowler and became a member of Menelik Lodge # 74 Free and Accepted Masons.

He is survived by his wife Josepha (Chris) Penn; daughter Tanika M. Horton of Baltimore, MD; four grandchildren Dai-Jeon Powell, Jr., Da Shawn Powell, London Mills, and Aaliyah Henson; three step children Deborah, Regina, and Joseph; six step grandchildren including Steven Townsend who he talked with daily; twenty-five step great grandchildren; three step great great grandchildren; two nieces Laverne Tyler and her daughter Candice and Annette Tyler and her daughter Kyiah; and a nephew Paul Tyler and his children Jabrell and Tara.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Louis Craig, sister Elizabeth Tyler, and nephew Timothy Tyler.

Services will be Sunday 4:00 PM at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Reverends James A. Harris and Deborah J. Watt officiating. Burial will be Monday 1:30 PM at WV National Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 2-4 PM with Masonic services at 2:00 PM.
