Norma Jean Harper 85, of Charleston passed away February 28, 2017 at Thomas Memorial Hospital.
She was retired from J.C. Penney and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Clay Carney and Effie Virginia Zwilling Carney; husband James Allen Harper, Sr.; brother, Delbert Cecil Carney and sister, Betty Lou Carney.
Survivors include her son, James Allen Harper, Jr., of Dunbar; daughters, Judy Lynn Harper of Springfield, FL and Sandra Kay Shaffer and husband Tarek Hassan of Charleston; brothers, Clay L. Carney of Nitro and George Albert Carney and wife Patty of Sissonville; sisters, Ruth Ann Robertson and husband Jack of South Charleston and Connie Sue Miller of Canton, Ohio. Several Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Great Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews who are also left to mourn her passing.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday March 4, 2017 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald L. Stoner officiating. Burial will follow in Carney Cemetery, Fisher Ridge, Kenna. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services also at the church.
