ROGER DALE ASHLEY
September 27, 1943 - February 18, 2015

Roger D. Ashley, 71, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at his home in Bolivar. Roger was born September 27, 1943, in Louisville, KY. the son of James Ray and Lillie Magdeline Edwards Ashley.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roy Ashley, formerly of Tennessee and Edward Ashley, formerly of Arcola, ILL>

He is survived by his wife, Linda Hayes Ashley of Bolivar; his daughter, Jill Ashley Overturf and husband Jeff of Republic; his son, Brent Edward Ashley and wife Emily of Bolivar; six grandchildren, Jacob Overturf, Samantha Overturf, Bethany Overturf, Alicen Ashley, Aaron Ashley, and Andrew Ashley; and a brother, Michael Ashley of New Port Richie, FLA.

Roger served in the U.S. Army Reserves as part of the Special Forces stationed in Chicago, ILL. While in service, he attended Southern Illinois University, graduating in 1968, with a B.S. in agricultural economics.

Roger worked for FS Services in several towns in Illinois throughout the 1970's, then opened and managed Friendly Home Center in Terre Haute, IND. from 1979-1986. He moved to Sioux City, Iowa, to work for the Farmer's Co-Op as a sales manager, and then developed products and opened his own business, Heartland Animal Health in 1988. The business was moved to Bolivar in 1995 where it continues today under the management of his wife, Linda and son Brent.

Roger will be remembered for his passion for animals of all kinds, compassion for those in need and love of his family. He never knew a stranger and was a very giving man.

Roger will be cremated, and a memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd, in Bolivar.
