JAMES, Violet Puckett, 71, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, July 20, 2003. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Robert W. "RW" James; sons, Howard William James and Linda, Vinton, Michael Odell James and wife, Deborah, Roanoke; daughters, Mary Ellen Solomon, Patricia Ann James and Leon Booth, all of Roanoke; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline P. Goad, Ruby Mae Pruitt, both of Roanoke; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2003 at Simpson-Tharp Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, by the Rev. Andrew Draughn and Rev. Benny Ryder. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Simpson-Tharp Funeral Home. 366-0707.
