Guide to the Faith Adams Griefen family papers at the New England Historic Genealogical Society, pg 5 & 6; print, unknown 1779-1988 (AmericanAncestors): WILLIAM SYDNEY FISHER (William Sydney¹) was born at Boston, MA Aug. 14, 1813; died at Charlestown, MA Sept. 4, 1852, aged 30 yrs. He married at Yarmouth, MA Oct. 8, 1839 to ELIZABETH INGLESBE HALLETT. She was born at Yarmouth, MA Jan. 23, 1818, the daughter of ANDREWS and HETTY DAVIS (COBB) HALLETT of Yarmouth, MA; died at Cambridge, MA Dec. 30, 1897. William and Elizabeth had both joined the Swedenborgian sect The Church of the New Jerusalem in the 1830s. The wedding announcement in the newspaper states the wedding was at the New Jerusalem Church, performed by Rev. W.H. Mayhew. "The bridesmaids were Miss Georgianna E. Hallett of Liverpool, Eng., and Miss Lizzie Baxter of Hyannis. The groomsmen were Messrs. Peter Thacher and John A. Baxter, Jr., Hyannis. In 1849 William bought one half of the printing office of the Yarmouth Register on condition that he continue printing the newspaper "devoted to the promotion of the Whig cause in the County of Barnstable. He was also the secretary of the Whigs of Barnstable County, as well as the Inspector of the Boston Custom House. The Yarmouth town records give the birth date of Daniel Barker Ford, apprentice to Wm. S. Fisher. Children: v. Ellen Germain Fisher was born at Yarmouth, MA Aug. 8, 1848; died at Cambridge, MA Aug. 24, 1934.
