The son of Arthur W. Aljets and Alice Josephine Thrailkill, Bobby graduated from East Alton-Wood River High School in Madison County, Illinois. He then served in the United States military for 3 years.

Bobby married Margie Lee White on 25 Mar 1949 in Rosewood Heights, Illinois. The marriage was performed by the pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Reverend Norman Louis Wolff, Sr.

Bobby and Margie were the parents of 2 children. The Aljets were members of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto, Illinois.

Bobby worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company for 36 years. He was an installation engineer for the MAC Operation Center at Scott Air Force Base. He retired in 1981 and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Margie was a homemaker and dedicated mother.

They enjoyed traveling in their motor home and spending time with their grandchildren.

Bobby died at his home at the age of 69 years, 6 months and 25 days.

He was survived by his wife, Margie; 2 daughters and 2 sons-in-law; 2 grandchildren; 1 sister, Dorothy Shelton of St. Louis, Missouri; and a number of extended family members and friends.

Bobby was preceded in death by his mother and father.

Visitation was held on 07 Nov 1997 at Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services were conducted there at 1 p.m. the following afternoon.

The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the United in Mission Building Fund at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto or to Wood River Township Hospital Hospice.
