Kittery Point, Me – Cynthia Marie (Douglas) Flolid, 87, of Kittery Point Maine, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 under the loving care of the nursing staff in the browning unit at Sentry Hill in York Harbor, Maine.
Cynthia was born on March 24, 1929 in Hinsdale, Illinois. She graduated from Lyons Township High School in LaGrange, IL and attended Dennison University in Ohio.
She was an avid water colorist and was a member of the Kittery and York Art Association. Cynthia was also a longtime member of the Kittery Harborside Garden Club.
Cynthia was a member of the retired Navy Wives Book Club for many years and enjoyed reading a variety of books and magazines. She was an exceptional rug hooker. She designed her rugs and developed dyes for her wool from wild plants and flowers. She enjoyed cooking and was good at it. Cynthia loved her outdoor animals especially her pet female raccoon named Racal who came to the porch door to receive dog food and a marshmallow. She loved all animals.
She was fluent in Spanish and Portuguese; learning Spanish in high school and Portuguese while stationed with her husband at the naval air facility on the Portuguese island of Terceira in the Atlantic.
Cynthia was married for 61 years to her husband, Capt. Robert E. Flolid, USN (Ret). Together they spent 26 years at various Naval Bases and enjoyed the Navy life to its fullest. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Lt. (j.g.) Robert Eugene Flolid and Mrs. Flolid, the former Miss Cynthia Douglass, Point Pleasant) were married Sept. 17 at the Cathedral of the Air. After a wedding trip to New England and Canada, the couple will live on Iroquois Drive, Cedarcroft. Mrs. Flolid is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herbert St.Clair Heroy, Belmar, pioneer Shore residents. Lieutenant Flolid's parents live in Little Falls, Minnesota.

(I) George J. Douglass of New Brighton, Beaver county, Pennsylvania, was for many years a miller in that section. He married Matilda McKay, and had children: George D. and Elizabeth.

(II) George D. Douglass, son of George J. and Matilda (McKay) Douglass, was born in Fallston, Beaver county, Pennsylvania, January
12, 1854. For a period of twenty-five years he was connected with the
Penn Bridge Company, of Beaver Falls, and is now living retired. He
married Ellen G., a daughter of William Wilde. Children : Herbert W.,
of further mention; Thomas L., bom October 14, 1884, now general manager of the Alberta Nail & Wire Company, at Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

(HI) Herbert W. Douglass, son of George D. and Ellen G. (Wilde)
Douglass, was born in New Brighton, Beaver county, Pennsylvania, Jan-
uaury 22, 1882. The public schools of the town furnished him with an
excellent education, and he was graduated from the high school. He then became a clerk in the employ of the banking house of G. S. Barker & Company. In 1900 the Beaver County Trust Company was organized, and purchased the business of G. S. Barker & Company. Mr. Douglass was retained in his position, and from this advanced successively to the offices of teller, assistant treasurer, and is now (1914) secretary and treasurer of this corporation, which owes much of its success to his executive ability. He is connected with other important financial enterprises, and is the secretary and treasurer of the Beaver County Insurance Agency, Incorporated. He is independent in his political opinions, and will not allow himself to be bound by partisan ties. His fraternal affiliation is with the Free and Accepted Masons. He is a member of Christ Episcopal Church, and superintendent of the Sunday school connected with it. Mr. Douglass married, September i, 1905, Ida B., a daughter of O. C. Harris, and they have had children: Helen Elizabeth, born June 18, 1906; Herbert W. Jr., born May 9, 1908.
