Betty Winn White, 90, Springfield, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Sunday, January 21, 2007, in Quail Creek Skilled Nursing Center, Springfield, Greene Co., MO. She was born October 16, 1916, in Wichita, Kansas (Sedgwick Co.)the daughter of Charles Hardin and Martha Agusta Affleck Winn. She moved to Springfield as a child and graduated from Springfield Sr. High School before attending Springfield Teachers College, now Missouri State University. Betty was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church where she was active in the Altar Guild and St. Ann's Guild; she was also a member of Springfield Little Theatre Auxiliary. She was an avid Lady Bears and Bears basketball fan. She was preceded in death by her husband, O. Kenneth White; her parents; a brother, Charles A. Winn; and a sister, Marjorie Winn. She is survived by three sons, Michael A. White and wife, Nancy, Springfield, Kenneth W. White and wife, Ann, Springfield, and John J. White and wife, Nancy, Macon, Ga.; five grandchildren, Martha Hale Crise and husband, Scott, of Springfield, Sarah Elizabeth Chatterton and husband, David, Jesse Winn Bodine and husband, Sam, Michael Walbridge White, all of Columbia, and John Kenneth White, Macon, Ga.; and two great-grandchildren, Natalie Hale Crise and Cynthia Winn Crise. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 25, 2007, in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with the Reverend Jerry Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield National Cemetery. No formal visitation is planned, however, friends may call after 1 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 515 E. Division, Springfield, MO 65803.
