Richard F. Whittaker Beloved husband, father and grandfather CANANDAIGUA - Richard F. Whittaker, 76, died on July 23, 2009 at F.F. Thompson Hospital. Richard was born October 24, 1932 in Canandaigua, the son of Raymond H. and Bertha Whittaker. He was a graduate of Red Jacket High School Class of 1951 and attended Rochester Institute of Technology. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and on April 16, 1955 married Delores O'Donnell. He was employed by R.G.E. for 39 years. He was a member of Shortsville Rod & Gun Club, Newark Rod & Gun Club, Ducks Unlimited, and helped with hunter safety courses. Richard was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved the outdoors, his family, and traveling the world. He is survived by his wife, Delores A. Whittaker; son James R. (Kendra) Whittaker of Denver, Colo.; daughter, Lori W. Beers of Campbell, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Randy, Sarah, Julie, Christopher, and Robert; eight great-grandchildren; and sister Florence E. (Donald) Trumbull of Canandaigua. He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Bertha; and son, Robert G. Whittaker. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 26 at Halsted-Patrick Funeral Home, 19 North Main Street, Manchester. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 27 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory can be made to Chronic Disease Fund, 6900 North Dallas Parkway, Suite 200, Plano, TX 75024 or at www.cdfund.org.
