Mrs. Lide Miller Beets, wife of H. P. Beets, died at her home near Hillsdale, Kansas, last Sunday morning, March 1, 1931, at 6:25 o'clock in her seventy-second year. She had been in good healh until suddenly stricken with paralysis last Saturday morning about ten o'clock while about her household duties in the kitchen at her home. Besides Mr. Beets, the husband, she leaves two sons and one daughter; Fred and Ralph Beets, of Hillsdale, and Mrs. Avos Fisher, wife of George Fisher, of Paola, Route 3. Also there are 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild, two sisters and one brother, surviving: Mrs. C. E. DeMoss, of Greenwood, Missouri, Mrs. Elmer Peery, Omaha, Nebraska and James F. Miller, who lives northwest of Paola.

Lide Miller was born April 16, 1859, in Guernsey County, Ohio, near the city of Cambridge, and lived there until 13 years old when she came to this county with her parents, the late David and Sarah Miller. Here she has since resided. On October 18, 1877, she was united in marriage to Henry P. Beets at the David Miller home near Hillsdale and to them were born five children, only three surviving. Most of their married life was spent on the place where the wife died on the date mentioned. Mrs. Beets became a member of the Methodist Church at Hillsdale in 1879, and throughout her life remained faithful to that belief.

The funeral service was conducted at the Presbyterian Church in Hillsdale last Tuesday afternoon, March 3, at two o'clock, with Rev. Leonard N. Kent, Presbyterian minister of Paola, officiating. Internment was in the cemetery at Hillsdale. Among those from a distance who came for the last rites were the two sisters of the deceased. Mrs. Beets held the love of all who knew her because she was always the true wife and mother whose whole life was devoted to duty.
