Charles W. Barber, 80, of Ithaca, died at home. He was a son of the late Lester G. and Ida (Sniper) Barber.
He was a gradate of Ithaca High School . After graduation he served overseas during World War II. Returning after the war he attended and graduated from Tri-State College, Angola, Indiana. He then went to work for the Ithaca Gun Company. He retired as an engineer for the City of Ithaca.
He was a member of the South Hill Church of the Nazarene, the Odd Fellows, Brotherhood of Int’l. Magician Club, Ithaca Magic Club, Local 140, the Ithaca Bowling Assn., and several other organizations. Mr. Barber enjoyed woodcarving.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys (Gable) Barber; two sons; one brother; one sister; grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Althea Barber; a brother, George Barber; and step-mother, Georgina Smith Barber.
A funeral service will be held in the Herson Funeral Home. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
