On 11 March 1849, she married Dr. Henry J. Millard, a native of Washington, D.C. and St. Mary's County, Md. Of this marriage six children were born but only one of the six lived to adulthood. Losing five of your children in their childhood had to be a terrible experience for the parents.
Following the death of Dr. Millard in November, 1863, she married John F. Smith, an attorney and widower, in 1866. There were no children of this marriage.
Sarah Ann died 3 Jan 1883 in Grand Coteau and ten months later, John F. Smith died.
