Obituary for Charlotte L. West
Charlotte Lea Painter West, age 81, of Great Falls, Virginia, formerly of Momence, Illinois, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017.
Born March 20, 1935, in Herscher, Illinois, Charlotte was the first child of Denzle and Isabelle Girard Painter. She grew up in Kankakee, Illinois and on February 9, 1957, married Roger Gene West at St. Rose of Lima Church. They settled in Momence where they raised their five children. Charlotte was well known and beloved in Momence, serving as the City Clerk for more than 27 years. She moved to Great Falls in 2016.
She is survived by two sons: Rick and Robin West of Glendale, CA; Roger Lee and Kara West of Great Falls, VA; three daughters: Rhonda West of Richmond, VA; Rebecca and Doug McWilliams of Momence, IL; Romaine and Laura West of Dracut, MA. Also surviving are six grandchildren; grandson Wesley and Michelle McWilliams of Bourbonnais, IL; granddaughters Georgia West of Peoria, IL; and Elizabeth, Emma and Charlotte West of Great Falls, VA; and one great-granddaughter, Emryela McWilliams, Bourbonnais, IL. Her brother and sister-in-law, Denzle and Carol Sue Painter of Kankakee, IL also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, (September 23, 1977) and a sister, Shirley Wesson.
Charlotte was a long time member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Momence. Following the service there will be a reception held at the church.
Visitation: Cotter Funeral Home on March 4, 2017 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
Graveside: March 4, 2017 at 11:15, with Rev. Dan Hessling officiating.
Burial: St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.
