She was also preceded in death by her sister, Anna Mae Lucas Marshall Faircloth of Charlottesville; and her brother, Marvin Gene Lucas.
At the age of eight, Miss Morris was separated from her siblings due to the death of their mother. She was sent to the Lady of the Valley Convent in West Virginia where she lived and attended school for the next ten years. Upon turning 18 years old, she moved to Syracuse N.Y. to be a live-in care taker for the Mangel Family. At 26, Miss Morris was reunited with her beloved sister, Anna Mae, who was living in Charlottesville. She soon moved to Charlottesville where she eventually met and married Sammie Lee Morris in September 1964.
During her years living in Charlottesville, Miss Morris worked at Cecil's Dry Cleaners for eighteen years, and later was a live-in caretaker of Mr. Cecil Dunsmore until his death. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Colonnades and worked at Carriage Cleaners until her retirement in 2014. She attended Covenant Church of God, Maple Grove Christian Church, and Belmont Baptist Church.
Throughout Emma's life, there were many people who have had a significant impact on her. These are a few that surely deserve recognition: Special thanks to the kind people from Jaunt that took her to the grocery store each Monday. Thanks to the kind and patient ladies at the check-out line and the pharmacy department personnel at Walmart. Special thanks to the cab drivers at Yellow Cab, who not only were kind with her, but really looked after her the day she was almost scammed. Thanks to her former physician, Dr. James D. Aller and the sweet nurses and receptionists. Thanks to Mrs. Jewel Mason, and all the people that manage Crescent Hall- you made it a home for her. Thanks to all her kind neighbors at Crescent Hall also. Thanks to Betty Sharp, Pat Lockley and all the staff at Blue Ridge PACE for caring for her. Thanks to her special friend Lorraine M. Williams. Thanks to her Church family at Belmont Baptist Church, and especially Norman Morris who faithfully provided her with rides to the church. A very special thanks to her "adopted" family of Guy, Miriam, Joe, Sam, Hannah and Mary Mallow. Special thanks to Cecil N. Dunsmore and family, especially his daughter Beverly. Thank God for giving her such a contented, kind, and faithful spirit. She would also like to thank her pets that were like children to her: her cat Sparky and dogs Bo and Lady.
