Michael "Mick" S. Bruner, age 76 of Kenton, passed away at 8:15 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay, OH. He was born September 7, 1940 in Campbell, Ohio to the late Michael Andrew and Elizabeth Rita (Checkel) Bruner. On January 26, 1963, Mick married Jean Marie Kovach and she survives. Mick is also survived by his three children: Judith Marie (Peter A. "Chip") Motolik of Collins, OH, Michael Leo (Jennifer) Bruner of Whitehouse Station, NJ and Keith Steven Bruner of Stow, OH; three grandchildren: Dominic Michael, Kayla Marie and Madelyn Grace Bruner; his brother: Thomas (Janice) Bruner of Cortland, OH; sisters in law: Jeanne Bruner of Boardman, OH and Barbara Kenney of Swansea, IL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Bruner. Mick was a graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and he attended Youngstown State University majoring in elementary education and business administration. He was employed as a production supervisor at Inpex and Hope Moulding and was an industrial engineer at Rockwell International in Kenton. He retired in 2006 from the Scioto Sign Co. Mick was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Third Degree member and a certified catechist having taught students in the 2nd grade thru high school seniors. He was an Extraordinary Minister of Eucharist since 1976. Mick also supervised games at the church's vacation bible school for a few years. He was a Boardman Little League, Kenton Little League, and Kenton High School head baseball coach covering a span of 45 consecutive years. Mick was a member of the Kenton Elks Lodge #157 and Kenton Moose Family Center #428. Mick was an avid photographer, taking photos of various local sporting organizations and school sports both team and individual photos for approximately 40 years. One mother said he was a pictorial historian. Mick was also a familyman and a man of faith. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and they loved him in return. He enjoyed sports and followed the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavaliers. Mick had a lifelong interest in model trains and antique cars. He was an avid reader. A Mass of Christian Burial for Michael "Mick" S. Bruner will be held Friday, February 24, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, Kenton with Father Jeffrey Tigyer and Father David Young officiating. Burial will follow mass in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Kenton. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the SCHINDEWOLF STOUT CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Kenton. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, Bridge Hospice Care of Findlay or Kenton Little League.
