Mrs. Wilma Mae (Adams) James of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017, at her home, having attained the age of 83 years, 5 months, and 12 days. She was born in Indianapolis (Marion County), Indiana on Thursday, September 14, 1933, the daughter of James Hayward, Sr. and Mary Hattie (Tucker) Adams.

She was a member of Indian Creek Christian Church, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Southport Chapter #442 for over 50 years, and an employee of Western Electric for more than 30 years. Wilma was highly involved with the church, passing out bulletins as a Greeter during the first service, attending the Forever Faithful Bible Study Class, volunteering for the Food Ministry and FAME, and serving breakfast at the Shepherd Community and supper at the LifeBridge Community in Beech Grove. She also helped prepare and serve food at funeral dinners.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rogene “Gene” James, whom she wed on November, 30, 1968, siblings, Delcie Adams (and Dale) Sprinkle, James Hayward (and Rosie) Adams, Jr., Nellie Jane (and Alford) Swartz, William Joseph “Bill” (and Bebe) Adams, and a son-in-law, David Boles.

She is survived by her son, Alan Dean James, her step-children, Roberta (and George) Roberts, Robert Gene James, and Rebecca “Becky” (and Randy) Darrough, her brother, David (and Kay) Adams, all of Indianapolis, Indiana, her grandchildren, Gina Robinson, James Edward Alan “Bo” Mobley, Kevin Boles, Adam James, and Austin James, her great-grandchildren, Tyler Robinson, Cierra Robinson, Justin Mobley, and Jacob Mobley, and her sisters-in-law, Margaret James of Science Hill, Kentucky, Judy (and Ronnie) Vaught of Eubank, Kentucky, and Lana Cassada of Somerset, Kentucky.

Family and Friends will gather and remember from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (EST) Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Science Hill, Kentucky. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Science Hill, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the Mt. Zion Cemetery in her memory c/o Nancy Dick, 914 Hwy. 1676, Science Hill, Kentucky 42553. Norris-New Funeral Home of Burkesville, Kentucky is honored to be in charge of all funeral arrangements.
