Mary Boardman Baer, 77, died at 7:55 AM Oct. 4, 2003, in her West Lafayette home. Born Oct. 17, 1925, at Aurora, IL, she lived in the Plainfield and Naperville area until moving to Monticello in 1932. She graduated from Monticello High School in 1943, and then attended Indiana School of Business in Indianapolis. She married Thomas R. Baer on Aug. 19, 1950, who survives. He is a former vice president of Soller-Baker Funeral Home.

Mrs. Baer was a secretary at Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis until her marriage. She came to West Lafayette in 1952. She was a member of Federated Church of West Lafayette, PEO Sisterhood Chapter AS, Delta Theta Tau sorority, John Purdue Club, and both the St. Elizabeth and Lafayette Home Hospital auxiliaries. Through her many activities, she developed a wide circle of cherished friendships.

Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Janice M. (Mrs. Michael) Adams of Tacoma, WA, and Linda B. (Mrs. Patrick) Burns of Fisher; a son, Thomas R. (wife Fiona) Baer II of Walled Lake, MI; two brothers, Alexander (wife Priscilla) Boardman of Denver, CO, and Harry (wife Sally) Boardman of Bradenton, FL; and one grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin C. and Elsie Royce Boardman; and three brothers, George, John and James Boardman.
