George Henry McLeroy, 78, a native of Hunt County, died suddenly following a heart attack this morning at 6 o'clock at his home in Lone Oak. He had been in ill health for some time.

Funeral services have been set for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Lone Oak Methodist Church, followed by burial in Forest Park cemetery. The Rev. Fred Moore, Greenville, the Rev. Gene Miller, and the Rev. Charles Hart, Lone Oak, are to conduct the services.

Pallbearers will be Jerome Harkey, Greenville; O.M. Scott, John Stapleton, Howard Payne, Ed Jones, and Joe Ben Wallace, all of Lone Oak.

Arrangements are being made by the Gray-Ballard-Sorrells Funeral Home. The body is to rest at the family home in Lone Oak.

Mr. McLeroy was born in Cash, Dec. 17, 1871, the son of F.Franklin McLeroy and Mariah Simmons McLeroy. He lived in Cash until the age of six when he moved with his parents to Hopkins County. At the age of 25 he returned to Hunt County, locating near Lone Oak where he had resided since that time.

A retired farmer, Mr. McLeroy joined the Methodist Church at the age of 21. On Feb. 4, 1892 he married Sabina Gafford in Sulphur Springs.

Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Buron McLeroy, Sundown, Texas; Bazz McLeroy, Joe McLeroy, Lone Oak; five daughters, Mrs. W.T. Byrd, Greenville; Mrs. George Moore, Mrs. Leo Wallace, Lone Oak; Mrs. S.H. Threatt, Arlington; Mrs. W.H. Roundtree, Greenville; 22 grandchildren, one brother, Tom McLeroy, Winnsboro.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon from the Lone Oak Methodist Church, for George Henry McLeroy, 78, native Hunt Countian who succumbed suddenly at 6 a.m. Monday at his home in Lone Oak.

Death followed a lengthy illness.

Rev. Fred Moore of Greenville, Rev. Jene Miller and Rev. Charles Hart, of Lone Oak will conduct the rites, and burial will be in Forest Park.

Pallbearers will be Jerome Harkey of Greenville; O.M. Scott, John Stapleton, Howard Payne, Ed Jones and Joe Ben Wallace, all of Lone Oak.

The body was removed to the family home in Lone Oak by the Gray-Ballard-Sorrells Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Cash on Dec. 17, 1871, Mrs. McLeroy was the son of F.Franklin McLeroy and Mariah Simmons McLeroy. He moved to Hopkins County with his parents at the age of 6, returning to Hunt County at age of 25. He located near Lone Oak at that time, and has resided there since.

He was a retired farmer.

Mr. McLeroy was married to Sabina Gafford in Sulphur Springs on Feb. 4, 1892. He joined the Methodist church at the age of 21.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Buron McLeroy of Sundown, Bazz McLeroy and Joe McLeroy of Lone Oak; five daughters, Mrs. W.T. Byrd and Mrs. W.H. Roundtree of this city, Mrs. George Moore and Mrs. Leo Wallace of Lone Oak and Mrs. S.H. Threatt of Arlington, 22 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Tom McLeroy of Winnsboro.
