Lance Morel was born October 15, 1979, the middle child to parents John and Peggy Morel of New Roads, Louisiana in Pointe Coupee Parish.

A rough and tumble childhood, and a quick temper saw Lance out of school by the ninth grade - but lack of education didn't stop him in the least. He had a brilliant mind and was a quick learner, and made a good living doing construction work, with which he garnered much experience.

In 1996, Lance met the love of his life, Amber Bourke. They dated until his death in October of 2006; the following Christmas Eve would have been their ten year anniversary.

Meeting Amber was a huge turning point in Lance's life, as he quickly became part of her family. For the rest of his life, there was not a major holiday or even a small get-together that he was not at. The family embraced him wholly, and he was, in every way that mattered, family and friend to each of us.

I want people to have an idea of who he was, of how special and real this young man we knew and loved was; I'll try my best here: Lance will be remembered for being an amazingly talented musician and a consummate jokester. He had a wonderful sense of humor and laughed easily. As a friend, he was more loyal and true than anyone you could ever meet. If you needed Lance, he was there - no questions asked.

Beer in hand, guitar in the other, Lance Morel was the kind of person who was noticed as soon as he walked in the room. "Quiet" and "composed" could never be used to describe him. He was the life of the party, the loud laughter at the other end of the room with a crowd of laughing people around him.

To know Lance, was to love him...or hate him - there could be no in-between. Take him or leave him, he changed for no one and didn't put up with anything he felt wasn't right. I admired and respected him so much for that.

He is so very missed, and there is a huge hole in the lives of everyone he touched that simply cannot ever be replaced.

I have set up a memorial page for him also at Lance Corey Morel. The song playing was written, performed, and recorded by him.
