Ethel Adams peacefully passed away February 24, 2017 in Clearfield, Utah, with her husband by her side.

She was born on February 3, 1929, in Malad, Idaho, the first child of Donald J. and Bertha Roderick Howard, being named Ethel for her beloved Welsh grandmother. In 1935, her family moved to Bountiful, Utah. She attended Davis High School where she graduated as valedictorian. She married her high school sweetheart, Harris Adams, on August 30, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple and, after he returned from serving an LDS mission, they made their home on a farm in Layton, Utah.

While raising her family, Ethel worked at Hill Air Force Base, taught swimming at Clearfield Swimming Pool, completed a B.S. degree from Weber State College, an MBA degree from the University of Utah, and a post-graduate certificate from the Defense System Management College in Virginia. After retiring from 35 years of service at Hill Field, she served for four years on Layton City Council, seventeen years as a docent at the LDS Church Museum, and ten years as a guide at the Beehive House. She also served faithfully in many LDS church callings including Junior Sunday School coordinator, Gospel Doctrine teacher and Relief Society president. She was an accomplished homemaker, seamstress, and cook, and she provided her children with opportunities to learn many skills and to complete their educational goals.

Ethel is survived by her husband, Elias Harris Adams, her children Judith Wilson (Mike), Howard Adams (Sally), Eve Carlsruh (Dan), and Annette Mabey (Clark), 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, a sister Thella Weaver, and brothers Donald Howard (Jeri), Roderick Howard (Pat), and Dee Lynn Howard (Pam), and a sister-in-law, Catherine Adams. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lois Dickson, and a foster son Kee Benally.
