Mr. David Oscar Hawks, 71, of Mt. Airy passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. He was born in Carroll County on March 1, 1945 to the late Elliott and Fannie Underwood Hawks. Mr. Hawks was a carpenter and was owner operator of Hawks Odd Jobs. He is survived by a daughter, Angela Miller; a grandchild, Matthew Ryan Miller; sisters and brothers-in-law, Inez and David Bowman, Rhonda and Johnny Ables; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hawks was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Faye Hill; a daughter Theresa Marshall; sisters and brothers-in-law, Annie and Burlie Hawks, Hattie and Tommy Worrell, Hassie and James Midkiff; brothers and sister-in-law, Billy and Nannie Hawks, and Garfield Hawks. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Anchored in Jesus Cemetery with the Rev. Ray Hawks and the Rev. Larry Stone officiating.
