Ivan Allison Johnson, 89, passed away on February 25, 2017 at Red Oak Health and Rehab in Red Oak. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 2nd at the Old Rock Church in Cranfills Gap with Pastor Ryan Pederson officiating. Burial will follow at the Rock Church Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Ivan was born on April 24, 1927 in Cranfills Gap to C. O. (Charlie) Johnson and Edyth (Carlson) Johnson. He grew up in Cranfills Gap where he was baptized on June 5, 1927 and confirmed into faith on June 21, 1942 at Saint Olaf Lutheran Church. He graduated from Paschal High School in Fort Worth.

After high school he enlisted into the Navy in 1945 and left the day after graduation. While in the Navy he received the Victory and Asian – Pacific Campaign Medals. He was Honorably Discharged on July 8, 1946, achieving the rank of Seaman First Class.

Ivan began work with his partner Homer (Shade) Olson as owners of the GULF Service Station in Cranfills Gap. He worked there until 1968 when he and Shade sold the GULF station. He then went to work for John-Manville in Cleburne until his retirement.

On February 28, 1948 he married Junelle Swenson . They were married for 68 years. Ivan was a member of the Saint Olaf Lutheran Church and was very involved in Cemetery Committee.

He enjoyed going camping, wood crafting, fishing, dancing and being with friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers B. A. Johnson and Charles Elroy Johnson who died 3 1/2 months after birth.

Survivors include his wife, Junelle; sons, Dennis (Janette) of Red Oak, Maurice (Patricia) of Georgetown; Grandchildren, Angela (Gary) Sipes of Waco, Craig (Kayla) Johnson of Bertram, Kacie (Jacob) Glosson of Liberty Hill; great-grandchildren, Layla and Hayden Sipes, Landon and Dylan Johnson and Jase Glosson.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Red Oak Health and Rehab of Red Oak, TX and Bristol Hospice Pathways LLC for their compassionate care and timeless dedication.
