James D. Echols
August 9, 1934 - February 25, 2017

James D. Echols, age 82, of Pensacola, stepped over Earths’s Threshold into Glory on February 25, 2016. He fought a valiant two year battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was under the compassionate care of Dr. German Herrera, his nurse, Mary, and hospice nurse, Igrid. James was born August 09, 1934, in Milton, Florida and was a long time resident of Pensacola. He was a 1952 graduate of Pensacola High School, completed a four year apprenticeship, earning a Journeyman Machinist certificate from the U.S. Navy in 1956, and later an associates degree from Pensacola Junior College. James retired from the Pensacola Naval Air Rework Facility after 37 years of service; first as a machinist and then in management as a Branch Department Head. He was a faithful member of Burgess Road Baptist Church. James is survived by his cherished wife of 61 years, Imogene Thorpe Echols; son Dennis J. (Pattie) Echols of Pensacola; daughters Martha Brannon (David) Restucher of Bonaire, GA and Brenda Diane Echols of Pensacola; grandchildren, DJ (Angela) Echols of Pensacola, FL, Megan (John) Gulledge of Kissimmee, FL, David C. Restucher, Jr. of Decatur, GA, Daniel (fiancé Jessica Fountain) of Pensacola, FL, and Brooke Restucher of Decatur, GA; great-grandchildren Morgan Gulledge, Alex Gulledge of Kissimmee, FL, Macey Kate Echols and Brady James Echols of Pensacola, FL.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 02, 2017, from 5:00-7:00pm at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday March 03, 2017, at Burgess Road Baptist Church, 250 W Burgess Rd, Pensacola, FL, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be grandsons John Gulledge, DJ Echols, David C. Restucher, Daniel Echols, great-grandson Alex Gulledge and brothers-in-law Douglas Thorpe, Sr. and Kenneth Thorpe.
