Anne Gabrielle Cooper, nee DeGruy, was born on July 8, 1873 in New Orleans, Orleans Parish, LA., the daughter of James Verloin DeGruy and Louise Amanda "Amanda" Sauton. In December, 1895, she married George A. (Alexis) Cooper, son of John B. Cooper and Marie Eugenia Prudhomme. She was the mother of John Gordon Cooper; Velma Louise Cooper, and Ursula Carey Cooper.

Her obituary was published in the Times-Picayune, New Orleans, LA., on Friday, March 24, 1950, on page 2, as follows:

COOPER-At Southern Baptist Hospital, on Thursday, March 23, 1950, at 3:10 o'clock p.m., GABRIELLE ANNE DE GRUY, late of 2619 Nashville avenue, widow of George A. Cooper; mother of Velma, Ursula and Gordon Cooper; grandmother of Alice Carey Cooper and Gordon Cooper, Jr. The funeral and interment will be private, this Friday morning, March 24, 1950, at 9:15 o'clock, from the House of Bultman, St. Charles avenue at Louisiana avenue. Requiem Mass at Holy Name of Jesus church, St. Charles avenue, opposite Audubon Park. Interment in St. Patrick No. 3 cemetery, City Park Avenue.
