Howard Vincent “Squeak” Paul, age 68, a lifelong Herkimer resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by the love and support of his family. Squeak was a devoted family man, loving husband, father, and a proud grandfather.

Born on May 26, 1948, he was the son of the late Irving and Carmella (Giachetti) Paul. He was educated in Herkimer schools and worked as a volunteer ambulance driver and then as a truck driver for Redco. He loved cars; washing them, driving them and watching NASCAR. He enjoyed visiting with neighbors, spending time with his two grandchildren, and making projects in his workshop. He was a member of the Herkimer Elks and enjoyed pioneering children's activities there, such as the Bike Rodeo and Haunted Hayride. He was a proud recipient of the Elk of the Year award.

Squeak is survived by his beloved wife, Linda of Herkimer; his children, Michael Paul and wife Lesley of Little Falls, Crystal Garcia and husband Anthony of Hercules, CA, and Jason Paul of Herkimer; his cherished grandchildren, Nadia and Kainoa. He is also survived by Michael’s mother, Jacqueline Shaul and Crystal and Jason’s mother, Mary Jane Walton; his brothers Richard Paul of Herkimer, Ronald Paul and wife Nancy of New Hartford; his aunt Rose Giachetti; nieces and nephews, Patricia and husband Tim Schumacher, James Paul, Tricia Paul, Bobby Paul and wife Heather, and his feline companion, Lila.

He is preceded in death by his father, Irving; mother, Carmella; and brother, Robert.
