Geneva Pearl Craft Carter was born in Bremond, TX on October 24, 1932. She passed away February 24, 2017 in Houston, TX. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred Izeah Craft and Ruth Princess Hailey Craft; brothers Thomas Wayne Craft and Estel Eugene Craft, and son, Michael Craig Carter. Geneva will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 60 years, Donnie Joe Carter, Sr.; daughter Clois Ann Crawford and husband Grady Earl Crawford; son Donnie Joe Carter, Jr. and wife Brenda Kaye Carter; grandchildren, Tyrel Orrin Crawford, Aaron Michael Crawford, Jennifer Kaye Carter, and Laura Ann Carter; brother Fred Craft, sisters-in-law Barbara Craft and Nancie Craft; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Geneva was the big sister to three adored brothers. She met her beloved husband, Donnie, in an elevator at their workplace. He looked into her deep brown eyes and the rest was history. Geneva, Donnie, and Clois, became a family on June 14th 1956. A year later, Donnie, Jr. was born. Geneva loved her husband and family devotedly. She opened her home to family members, spent countless hours on the phone with members of immediate and extended family and friends alike, and would frequently send cards and letters written in her distinctive script. She was constantly thinking of her loved ones and enjoyed finding ways to be sure they knew they were in her thoughts. Geneva supported and loved all of her children and grandchildren. Her face lit up anytime a family member entered the room. Even when she was unable to continue her routine of phone calls and correspondence, Geneva loved to hear all about how her family and friends were doing. Throughout her life, Geneva celebrated the accomplishments of her family and offered support during their trials. Her love was unconditional and she expressed pride and excitement for accomplishments big and small. Geneva was a member of Bible Way Baptist Church in Houston, TX. She loved the Lord and is now in Heaven with Him, free of illness and suffering. Geneva will be missed greatly and will always be remembered as a woman who loved with all her heart. Visitation will from be from 5:00pm until 8:00pm Monday, February 27, 2017 at Brookside Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Tuesday morning from 8:00 am until 10:00am with a graveside service to begin at 10:30am at Brookside Memorial Park.
