Born August 8, 1928 in Patrick County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Marion Lawson and the late Audrey Rakes Lawson.
Mrs. Bowman lived in Danville for 60 years. She was a member of Riveroak Church of God, where she was a former choir member, Sunday school teacher and was active in many other church activities. She worked for Dan River, Inc.
She was married to the late Claude Bowman, who died September 22, 2004.
She is survived by (obituary edited to omit names of living relatives) two sisters, Edith Chandler of Danville and Ruby Rorrer of Woolwine, Va.; one brother, M. Nash Lawson of Floyd, Va.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 25 at Riveroak Church of God with the Rev. Tim Nuckles officiating. Interment will be in the New Dan River Primitive Baptist Church cemetery in Vesta, Va.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Riveroak Church of God.
