Longview Services celebrating the life of Betty Jo McNeill, 90, of Longview will be at 10 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2017, at First Christian Church in Longview with the Reverend David Farmer officiating. After a long battle with cancer, Betty went home to be with her Lord on Friday, February 24, 2017, in Houston at Holly Hall Retirement Center. Betty was born June 30, 1926, in Camden, Arkansas to the late Thomas Seth and Pearl Wilmoth. She married Glen Wyett McNeill on January 18, 1947 and resided in Longview for 83 years.
Betty was a loyal member of Cornerstone Class, First Christian Church Longview for over 50 years, where she enjoyed serving and socializing with friends. A practical person, Betty could always be counted on to tackle a job such as cleaning the church, helping with her kids' projects, or running the church garage sale. She lived her life for others and devoted endless hours to her children's interests and activities. "Whatever you do in life, do it to your best ability," is a quote she bequeathed to her family. Although she will be deeply missed, her strength, humility, and joy will forever abide in those she loved.
She is survived by her son Jerry McNeill; daughter Judy McNeill Morehead; nephew and wife Charles and Christie McNeill; niece and husband Danna and Wally Fowler; and other family members Judy and Richard Campbell, Donald Fowler, Tom Fowler, and Chris and Nancy Fowler, Leah and John High, Shelby and Jenalie Lowe the 3rd, Keith and Alice Lowe.
She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 58 years; brothers Dan and Roy Wilmoth; and sons Jimmie Thomas and Jon Charles McNeill.
Memorials may be made to First Christian Church Property Fund.
