Henderson - Gilbert Lee Moore, Jr., 67, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Duke Homecare and Hospice following lengthy illness. A native of Alamance County, he was born August 16, 1949 to the late Gilbert Lee Moore, Sr. and Edith Aleas Beckom Moore and was the husband of 46 years to Shelby Oleane White Moore of the home.

Gilbert was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He worked for Lorillard Tobacco Company for many years and also served in the US Navy Reserves. He was an avid outdoorsman and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Poignard Club and the Law Hunting Club. Gilbert loved his canine companions, “Shebbe”, “Dominique”, “Joshua” and “Lucky”.

Survivors include his wife of the home; 2 sisters, and 3 nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held 12:00 noon on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Westminster Presbyterian Church by Pastor Powell Sykes with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
