Robert E. Aument, 85, of Luther Townhouse Apartments, 600 E. Main St., Lititz, died Friday morning at Lancaster General Hospital after a short illness.

He was the husband of Jane V. Haines Aument, who died in 1984.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Jacob and Effie Johnson Aument.

He was an owner of the former Aument Brothers wholesale food distributors, located at 227 N. Prince St.

After that, he worked as a salesman for the former Olewine's Food Servce in Harrisburg until retiring in 1978.

He was a member of Lititz Moravian Church and a former member of Lititz Lions Club and Elks Lodge 134 of Lancaster.

Active with the Lititz Senior Citizens group, he played in the kitchen band and participated in the Lancaster Senior Games.

Surviving are a son, Ronald L., husband of Beverly Aument of Mount Joy; a daughter, Jane E., wife of Kenneth L. Allwein of Lititz; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
