Evelyn Jean Barnes was greeted by our savior on February 16, 2017 in Dripping Springs, TX at the age of 86 years old.
Evelyn Barnes was born in Paris, Arkansas on November 2, 1930. Her father, Eugene Dowell, was an iron worker so the family relocated many times but ended up in Phoenix when she was only 14 years old.
This is when she met Jay R. Barnes who was a friend of her cousin. After Jay's military service they married in 1953. 1954 brought them a son, Terry Jay Barnes. They had two more children over the next 10 years, Rebecca Jean and Darcy Ann. Evelyn worked as an area coordinator for Motorola Semi conductors for 25 years. After a quick year at Microrel, she retired as a homemaker and full time grandma. She enjoyed
her grandchildren and great grandchildren and extended family over the next 30 years. She also enjoyed her travels to Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico and trips to see other family members in Texas, Oklahoma, California and Seattle with her husband whenever possible.
She is survived by her daughters: Rebecca Smalling and Darcy Ramey, Son- in- laws John Smalling and Carl Ramey. Grandchildren Tasha Harrison, Jim Meisner, Brayden and Kameryn Ramey. Great Grandchildren: Terry , Jordan, and Caleb Wrinkles: sister Beverly Holder, Brother-in-law Glendon Barnes, Sister-in-laws, Nettie Welch, Earline Dillon, Glorice Reed, and Cathy Tharp.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jay R Barnes, parents, Eugene and Elizabeth Dowell, her son, Terry Jay Barnes, siblings Iva Thude, Gene Dowell, Linda O'Neal, and brother in law Carlson Barnes.
