Daughter of Grace (nee Edwards) and Capt. Kenneth MacKenzie Wray. Cecil enlisted in the Australian Army Nursing Service on 20 April 1917. She served as a Staff Nurse in Salonika. She returned to Australia on 29 September 1919 and her appointment terminated on 20 October 1919.
