This community was again saddened Friday afternoon by the passing of Mrs. Lottie Bitz, 53, wife of Joseph Bitz, who died at her home on Lake street, after a short illness, having had a shock that paralyzed her entire left side. Mrs. Bitz came hoe from the Union New Year's Day, where he and her family had been with he brothers since the fire which damaged the Bitz apartments, where she resided. She immediately took to her bed and lived not quite a week. Mrs Bitz was born in Berkshire, Mass., a daughter of the late Louise and Casper Schmidt. The family came to this village, where she has passed nearly her whole life. She was married to Joseph Bitz, a general store keeper of Cleveland, about 27 years ago in St. Mary's Catholic church, of which she has been a communicant and faithful worker for several years.

Of a cheerful disposition she was always welcomed by her neighbors and many friends. Many deeds of charity she performed in secret. She was a kind and unselfish, loving wife and mother and will be greatly missed in her home and community. Surviving besides her husband are two daughters and two sons, Mrs. Leland Frink, a teacher in Lockerby district school; Miss Helen Bitz, student in Geneseo Normal school; Leo and Clarence Bitz, all of Cleveland; also three sisters, Mrs. Peter Senecal, Mrs. John Bitz and Mrs. Frank Griesmyer of Cleveland. There are four brothers, Charles, John and William Schmidt of Cleveland and Frank Schmidt of Oneida. She leaves one grandchild, Barbara Frink of Cleveland, besides several nieces and nephews. Sympathy is extended to the family in their bereavement.

Funeral services were held Monday morning in St. Mary's church and largely attended by relatives, friends and neighbors. Miss Doris Fitzpatrick, soloist and organist, sang the mass. Miss Florence Mulholland of North Bay sang the offertory and a solo. Rev. William J. Morris, pastor of St. Mary's, officiated. Floral tributes were many and beautiful, besides the numerous mass cards. Bearers were brothers, Charles, John, William and Frank Schmidt; also John Bitz and Bernard Delahunt. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery, Cleveland.
