Tyler Brenton Powell, 32, died Saturday, February 25, 2017, after a courageous battle with necrotizing pancreatitis and sarcoidosis.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at the funeral home by Rev. Don McGarvey. Cremation will follow the service on Wednesday. A private committal service will take place at a later date.

Survivors include his father, Doug (Alica) Powell of Troy Mills; his mother, Deb (Larry) Collins of Anamosa; sister, Emily Powell of Marion; three children, Trinity, Jaxen and Marcus Powell of Solon; step-brother, Tommy Morris of Troy Mills; step-sisters, Melissa Grimsinger of Walker, April Morris of Coggon and Jessica Morris of Walker; paternal grandparents, John & Merry Powell of Cedar Rapids; several aunts, uncles, cousins, a very special niece, Rochelle; and a host of many friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Burl & Arvena Cook; great-grandparents; uncle, Dennis Cook; and an aunt, Shelley Poppe.

Tyler was born August 24, 1984, the son of Douglas & Deborah Powell in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Anamosa High School.

Tyler worked at Bennett Machine & Fabricating in Anamosa, making parts for John Deere.

Tyler loved his children, especially spending time with them. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing and the vaping community. Tyler was a jokester; he was caring, hardworking and had a big heart.

In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested that any memorial contributions be made for his children’s education fund.
