Mrs. Nelson had been in delicate health for a long time. She bore her burden with great patience and never murmured or complained about anything done by those around her.
By the death of Mrs. Nelson the neighbors have lost a good woman, the children and grandchildren have lost a kind and good mother and dearest friend they had on earth and one who was able and ready to give good advice at any time. Mrs. Nelson was noted for her hospitality. If a stranger or even a tramp called at her door, he never went away disappointed.
Weep not dear children. Mother is not dead, though her body lies cold and lifeless in the tomb, her spirit took its flight and the writer believes that it is sweetly resting with the God who gave it. Mother is gone. We cannot see her now or hear her pleasant voice but will see her again more perfect than before.
The funeral was preached for Mr. and Mrs. Nelson from the text,"prepare to meet thy God" by Rev. Israel Weimer in the presence of a large audience. The body was laid to rest by the side of her husband in the Burgess cemetery near Streby amid a large crowd of sorrowing friends and neighbors. While the grave was being filled the choir sand the beautiful son, "Jesus Lover of my Soul, Let e to thy bosom fly."
