Roger W. Hadley, 84, of Woodburn, died on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at Parkview Hospital. Born in Poe, son of the late Ray and Ermal Hadley, he served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a lifetime farmer and retired in 1983 after 37 years with REA Magnet Wire Corp. He was a member of Woodburn United Methodist Church and Woodburn Lions Club. Roger was very active in his church and community and received several honorary commendations from the FFA.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gladys of Woodburn; children, Sharon (Louis) Ehinger of Charleston, S.C., Roger (Vickie J.) Hadley II and Vicki (John) Hostetler, both of Woodburn, Sandra (Greg) Emenhiser of Monroeville, Gail (Ben) Hadley-Goggin of Mechanicsville, Va., Mary (Dan) Meyer of New Haven, Wanda (Michael) Erwin of Waterloo and Curtis (Michelle) Hadley of Wingate, Ind.; brothers, Gene Hadley of Fort Wayne and Robert Hadley of Lebanon; 42 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Maya Smith; sister, Alice Krinn; and brothers, Sam and John Hadley.
Service is 10 a.m. Friday at Woodburn United Methodist Church, 4300 Becker Road, Woodburn, with calling one hour prior to service at the church; Pastor Susan Smith-Bryden officiating. Calling also from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Road 930 E., New Haven. Burial in Oaklawn Cemetery, Ossian.
