Elmer E. Vogt, age 84, of 8111 Carstens Lake Road, Manitowoc, died Tuesday, December 22, 1998, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 26, 1998, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Newtonburg. The Rev. Victor Headrick will officiate. Burial will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Newtonburg.
He was born September 26, 1914, in the town of Newton, Manitowoc County, son of the late Henry and Bertha Selle Vogt. From the age of a young man, Elmer farmed on the home farm his entire lifetime in the town of Newton. He married Dorothy Klusmeyer on July 28, 1945, at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. He was a member of st. John's Ev. Lutheran Church where he had served
on the church council and the school board. Elmer was also active with serving on the Manitowoc County Board representing the Newton District, served as town of Newton Treasurer for many years and was the past President of the Manitowoc Milk Producers Association. Elmer especially enjoyed his family, grandchildren
and great-grandchildren. He loved his work on the farm and especially helping out driving tractor.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy, one son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Paulette Vogt, rural Manitowoc; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Robert Eberhardt, Whitelaw, Gloria and Jerry Norris, Green Lake; 10 grandchildren, Beth (Keith) Roberts, Kay (Dale) VanSluytman, John (Heidi) Eberhardt, Jill Eberhardt, Debra (Scott) Teleshuk, Kathy (Dean) Steffen, Jeff Vogt, Craig Vogt and
special friend Angela Hornes, Sheryl Vogt, Shelly Vogt; three great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Brooke and Ryan; one sister and brother-in-law, Frieda and Howard Nack Manitowoc; two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Vogt and Lila Vogt, both of Manitowoc; one brother-in-law, Victor Brandt, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends surviving. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Friends may call at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church on Friday from 5-8 p.m. and then on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Manitowoc Lutheran High School or St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home is assisting the Vogt family with funeral arrangements.
