He was born April 23, 1950, in Youngstown, the son of Worth and Daisy Louise Martin.
Mr. Martin was employed with BT Express Trucking Company for 41 years as a driver, before retiring in 2012. He served honorably overseas in the U.S. Army from Oct. 8, 1968 to Dec. 6, 1971, during the Vietnam conflict, as a combat engineer, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He enjoyed playing chess and the guitar.
He leaves to mourn, three sons, Jacob Martin Jr. and Rocco Martin, both of Columbus and Jermaine Martin of Cleveland; four daughters, Ms. Jeanette of Las Vegas, Ms. Joyce of Columbus, Ms. Latasha of Youngstown and Ms. Ciera of Cleveland; two brothers, Henry Martin of Warren and Fred Martin of Youngstown; two sisters, Mrs. Marlene (Kenneth) Torrence of Sharon, Pa. and Ms. Annie Martin of Youngstown; 23 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Worth Martin and Daisy L. Martin Spivey; one daughter, Ms. Daisy Martin; two spouses, Ms. Jackie Martin and Ms. Laverne Martin; and 15 brothers and sisters.
Burial took place at Tod Homestead Cemetery.
