wife of Charles Jefferson McDowell born 1799 who is said to have died during the California gold rush (January 24, 1848 – 1855) enroute home. Another reference stated he died in 1884 in California. No grave has been located. He is the son of William 1759-1838 and Mary Ann McDade1765-1838 McDowell from Virginia. He was born in Monticello, Jasper Co., GA

Gravesite Details

her final resting place is covered with sea shells UNMARKED beside her daughter Amanda Temperance McDowell Garner. There is a partial slab at the foot of her grave, thought to be her headstone, it proved only to be a blank slate
