Artist of the Rideau Canal. He retired a Corporal from the Royal Sappers and Miners and then worked overseeing the Construction of the Rideau Canal under Col John By. He settled at Maplehurst Cottage at Kingston Mills after the Canal’s completion. The watercolours he created were donated by his family to the Archives of Ontario and provide an important view on life in Upper Canada.
