"Mrs. Susie Dutton, wife of Charles Dutton of this town [Goshen] died Thursday [5 May 1921] morning at the home of her sisters, the Misses Washburn on Carver Street in Brandon,[VT], where she had been for several weeks receiving treatment. She was born in Goshen in 1865, the daughter of James and Susan (Hooker) Washburn. In 1891 she married Edgar F. Cross of Gardner, Mass., returning to Goshen after one year, where she has since resided. Three children were born to them, Mindwell, Howard and Harry, all of whom survive her. Mr. Cross died in 1903. She married Charles Dutton in 1909. She is also survived by five sisters, Mrs. Mary Cunningham, Mrs. Frank Brown, Mrs. William [Wendall Philips] Sessions, and Miss Lenora [Alice] and Miss Carlyn [Dott] Washburn of Forestdale. The funeral was held at 2 o'clock in the Methodist Church here, the Rev. Walter Thorpe of Brandon officiating. The floral pieces were numerous. Burial was in the Goshen Hollow Cemetery."

[NOTE: husband Edgar Ferrin Cross was not from MA, but was born in Clarksville, Coos, New Hampshire, and was the youngest son of Ferrin Abjiah Cross (killed in Civil War at Cold Harbor, VA, leaving Edgar and other siblings orphaned and a widow Amelia Antoinette Brown (maiden), who later married Jared Lorenzo Jones...also her 2nd husband Charles Thomas Dutton very interestingly married 1st Orabell Washburn her sister on his marker, then married Susan 2nd and finally ended up marrying her youngest sister Carlyn Dott Washburn, who is also on his marker.]
